You’ll Get a Fancier One Later — by Guest Mom Kacy Faulconer

December 5, 2006

When I was first married I decided to collect nativities for Christmas. But I didn’t have any money so I only got one (as a gift). A few years later when we were blessed with children, they broke it (accidentally). So now I have the Playmobil nativity. It is perfect. When the kids get eager to start decorating they can put it up by themselves and play with it until New Year’s. In fact, baby Jesus ended up in my toothpaste drawer long after we had boxed up the rest of the ornaments.

Should be easy to find at Target.

Great advice! My kids have a hand painted wooden nativity made by a friend years ago. Our “nice” nativity sits up on a shelf away from little hands. This way, they have a chance to act out the Christmas story and mother isn’t hollering at anyone!

I have that same nativity. FYI – sometimes the 3 kings are sold separately from the rest of the set.

Great idea. We have the Fischer Price one that comes out only at the holiday’s. I think that I need the Playmobile one too…

I have the Fontanini nativity set which is plastic (kid friendly) but hand painted so it looks classy. They’re kind of pricey so I buy one a year after Christmas when they’re 40-60% off. You can find them at any Christmas store or just google them.

We are planning on buying that next year when our little ones are a little older. Plus they sold out on Amazon last week. My husband LOVES Playmobil.

What is it about Playmobil? I love it so much. I don’t even mind its small parts. I want everything Playmobil.

This is perfect! Playmobil is a hot ticket at our house.

Factotum, we collect Fontanini as well. I love it. So pretty and the kids can’t break it. I also love that I can replace pieces if they get lost without buying the whole thing again.

I’ve had the Playmobil one since before I had children (I like to collect all types of Nativities). This year, my oldest is 4 and she loves to play with it. My one year old gets to play with the Fisher Price LIttle People version. All of my other ones are up high on shelves away from little hands.

I also have the Little People nativity like Bek. It’s great to have one that the kids play with. Sometimes baby jesus ends up on the LP bus or at the LP zoo, but hey, it’s all in fun right? Just like your baby Jesus ended up in the Toothpaste drawer, when I opened our box to get out the nativity this year, I found the bus driver!!
